Around the fort of Kishangarh (Rajasthan, India) is the moat and garden – on which “Phool Mahal” was built in A.D. 1870 and was the Palace of the flowers for the Maharaja’s of Kishangarh.
A private residence of the Royal Family of Kishangarh opens for the discerning traveller Views of centuries old “Gundalao Lake” ‘where herons fly and peacocks strut in fanned delight. Kites circle overhead and the lake water beneath the graceful Palace, a paradise to flamingoes – pelicans – wild duck and the sarus crane.

Fort

fortKishangarh fort is situated at a distance of approximately 27 km from the Ajmer city of Rajasthan. The fort, constructed by Maharaja Roop Singh of Rathore clan, dates back to the 1650’s. The Kishangarh fort, near Ajmer, has a number of palaces and monuments inside its walls and is encircled by a huge moat. A magnificent lake located near the fort plays host to numerous rare and exotic birds, making it a bird watcher’s paradise. Ajmer Kishangarh fort also served as one of the main centers of the Kishangarh School of miniature paintings. Even the famous Bani Thani style of painting that is quite popular in the field of miniature paintings originated here itself.

There is a legend associated with the fort that goes that the fort was constructed at the place where the Maharaja saw a sheep defending her lambs from a pack of wolves. Infact, it is one of the few forts in Rajasthan that have remained unconquered till date. The interiors of the fort are beautifully carved and reflect the taste and lavish lifestyle of the Rathore rulers. Majestic quarters, courtyards adorned with stone-carved water fountains and numerous other embellishments enhance the magnificence of the Kishangarh Fort of Rajasthan. One of the major draws of the fort is the Phool Mahal (Flower Palace). Adorning the interiors of this palace are striking murals and some amazing frescoes.

Roopangarh Fort

Still this fort keeps the traditional beauty and attracts many tourists due to its stunning appearance and historical importance. The fort was the strategic place for Rajputana movements and acclaimed as a specimen of Rajasthan architectural styles. The beauty of the Rajasthan stones and marbles are amply presented by the fort structure.

Built in AD 1648 and called after himself, the town and Fort of Roopangarh was constructed by Maharaja Roop Singh of Kishangarh State between the mid – 17th to 18th centuries. This is called the ‘Golden Period’ of Kishangarh Art and Culture, and saw to the flourishing of the world famous school of Miniature Paintings.

Originally a nine turreted Fort, Roopangarh Fort has been built over and added on by several generations and the different styles can still be seen in the structure. Now beautifully restored and renovated into a hotel, it is the first ‘War-Fort’ to have been done so. The nineteen large rooms are individually and tastefully decorated, keeping in mind the history and heritage surrounding it.

Mandir Shri Nimbark Peeth

The Sanctum Sanctorum has been built in a way that the moonlight of the moon of sharad Poornima touches the lotus feet of the idol of the Lord at 12.00 pm. This particular full moon night of Sharad (the Ashwin month of the Hindu Calendar) is associated with Lord Krishna’s Rasa Leela with Radha and Other Gopies of Brindavana. The moon too has its complete 16 phases.This particular night of shavad poornima.

In to Jagmohan of the main temple the pillars of marble are exquisitely ornamental and their middle part is transparent. This wide spreading castle like temple is built on 42 thousand square feet land. The temple is surrounded by ramparts 35′ high and 6′ wide. The main temple is divided in three; (1) In the centre Shri Radha Madhava Ji (2) Side: Shri Sarveshwar Prabhu (3) Left Side: Shri Acharya Panchayatan Right to the Sanctum Sanctorum, we may have a view of Siddha Peeth (the place of the accomplished ascetic). Situated within the temple campus are Acharya Shri Mahal, Sant Niwas, Hostel, Shri Ved Pustakalaya, Pustakalaya, Printing press, Office, Kitchen, Store house and verandah..etc.

To propagate the eternal Vedic Sanatan Dharma amongst Vaishnavas and to inspire holy sentiments of erotic love of Shri Radhakrishna in a sweet dense shrubbery. This makes the devotees feel the acme of intense delight and raptures of devotional love. Shri Nimbarka’s philosophy of dualistic monism holds a very high place amongst the four-renoun Vaishnava cults. It is antique and conforms to Vedic philosophy.
